
If you are a queer parent in the red state of Tennessee, Nashville might be a refuge, but you’re still fighting an uphill battle (a worthy one, though!). Here are some resources for advocacy, mutual aid, shared experiences and more.

Nashville
- Just Us at Oasis Center: Helping lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth achieve their full potential with programs and assistance for queer youth and their families
- Gender Spacious Playgroup: Informal events where families come together to celebrate children’s diversity in an inclusive setting, free of gender stereotypes and assumptions for all ages (babies, too!)
- TransParent Nashville: Providing compassionate support to parents and caretakers of gender-expansive individuals in Nashville and the surrounding communities
- HRC Nashville: The Nashville chapter of the national Human Rights Campaign organization
- PFLAG Nashville: Provides free support for parents, family, and friends of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people as they work to understand what it means to be LGBT
- Transaid Nashville: Providing aid, community, and building power for all transgender people in the Greater Nashville area
- Mashup Nashville: MashUp works to increase the visibility of health inequities & social injustices that impact the well-being of LGBTQ people of color
- Nashville Cares: Provides targeted education, free and confidential HIV testing and a broad range of comprehensive services to individuals who are at-risk for or living with HIV
- My House Clinic: A diverse drop-in center delivering essential health and support for today’s ever-changing needs of Same Gender Loving (SGL) males
- Vanderbilt LGBTQ Health: Promotes national leadership in providing excellent patient care, education, research, and advocacy for the LGBTQ community
- Connectus Health: A non-profit community healthcare organization founded on the values of Compassion, Wellness, Community, and Culturally Sensitive Care
- Music City PrEP: PrEP, HIV care and STD testing
- Mashup Nashville: Connects local health care providers and administrators with training on how to practice beyond personal bias
- Streetworks: Provides education, prevention, and care to those affected by HIV/AIDS on the inner-city streets of Nashville
- Nashville Launchpad: Creates a network of temporary, safer, street-free sleeping shelters for unhoused young adults which are open and affirming to LGBTQ+ individuals and their allies
- Nashville Queer History: A community organization and digital portal whose mission is to research and share the LGBTQ+ history of Nashville and Middle Tennessee in hopes of inspiring local activism, education, and inclusion
- QueerFest Music: creates spaces for the queer community and provides opportunities for LGBTQ+ identifying artists and bands
- Nashville Pride: Hosts Nashville’s annual pride festival and parade as well as other events throughout the year
- Nashville Black Pride: Brings together African American and other Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT)/Same Gender Loving (SGL) People of Color in a social, non-threatening empowering setting to uplift, educate and present positive images that help to maintain a healthy, productive and visionary community
- Q+ House: Q+ House is a five resident home that doubles as a queer, creative community hub with a vision is to create a radical safe space and become a catalyst for belonging
- EastNashtivists: Progressive grassroots group in East Nashville with a mission is to organize, educate and activate voters in Nashville and beyond
- Nashville GSA: Nashville Gender & Sexuality Alliance hosts substance free and free of charge events for all identities and intersections (18+)
- QDP: Monthly $1 queer dance party that raises money for area organizations and mutual aid efforts
- The Table: An affirming faith space inclusive of everyone’s full authentic self
- Color Queery: Nashville’s LGBTQ+ Art Party – make friends and make art! (21+)
- Queer Book Club: A community for queer book lovers
- Outdoorsy Queers: A group for LGBTQ+ folks to do outdoorsy things – meetups for hiking, climbing, roller skating, and more!
- Nashville Hotmess Sports: LGBTQ+ sports leagues
Regional
- Campaign for Southern Equality: Provides funding and training to Southern LGBTQ folks doing heroic organizing in their hometowns
- Mutual Aid Babes (currently in the funding process)
- Planned Parenthood of TN and North MS: If you live in Tennessee or Mississippi and need an abortion, the Patient Navigation team can give you information and financial resources to access nearby abortion care
- Wilco Iris: A safe space for LGBTQ+ teens and their allies, grades 9-12, in Williamson County let by high school student leaders
- Franklin Pride: Educates, informs and fosters community that brings together LGBTQIA+ people and their allies in a social, non-threatening and empowering setting
- Williamson County Area Trans Aid: Providing gender affirming clothing for transgender youth in Williamson County and the surrounding areas
Statewide
- The Tennessee Equality Project: Advocates for the equal rights of LGBTQ people in Tennessee through legislative advocacy
- Inclusion TN: Connect people, opportunities, and resources to enrich and enhance the lives of the multi-faceted lgbtqia+ community
- GLSEN Tennessee: A grassroots initiative, working locally in our community to ensure safe schools for all students, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity
- Tennessee Pride Chamber: A business organization that aims to support, promote, and advocate for the interests of LGBTQ+ businesses and professionals
- TN Stonewall Bar Association: Provides support to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) lawyers working in Tennessee
- ACLU Tennessee: Freedom’s watchdog, challenging government abuse of rights and fighting for fairness in our laws and their enforcement
- Protect Trans Health TN: Independent trans-led reporting.
